A Vista through the house into the garden and beyond forms the basis of this full refurbishment & extension in Claygate in Surrey.
Our client came to us to assist them in reorganising their home, a period semi-detached workers’ house in the historic town of Claygate.

A key part of our brief was to connect the whole house with the rear garden and park beyond. Through design conversations we developed this concept, creating a continuous vista off which all the various living spaces in the house hinged.

Spaces in the house were defined by playing with the soffit to break the plan into different functions.
Dropping down into the living room, the vista terminated in a large corner window seat, with a hidden exit into the garden.

The verandah, was a key feature as the clients were keen to enjoy the garden throughout the year.
