Mihaela Petkova is an Architectural Assistant at Variant Office. Having had completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Kent, she has worked in Variant Office for two years prior to undertaking her Master’s degree in Architecture at Oxford Brookes University, specialising in Development and Emergency Practice.
She finds interest in the adaptability of architecture that can both accommodate the clients’ change of needs, as well as serve its current purpose in a practical manner.
Mihaela is highly detail-focused and thorough when incorporating information from different professionals and suppliers into the design, making sure that the structure, the services and the materials all fit seamlessly with the design proposal. Her current education in humanitarian architecture has provided her with a better understanding of the role of design in an age of space and resource scarcity and in the complex context of diverse communities.
