Variant office with Grassroots Play
Phoenix School approached us to find ways to improve an external space within the school that was under used and dominated by a net structure that limited the potential for free play.
Our strategy was to free up the space as much as possible by orientating structures to the perimeter of the playground. By designing a multi-layer play structure we were able to increase the play value significantly without impacting too much on the available space. By reprogramming the free space to create flexible zones of use to include a stage, seating, storage and an area with a moveable sand tray, we were able to maximise the usability of the free space. A slide adds a playful connection between the different areas of the playground.
